Luke 24:13-25 On the Road to Emmaus (Klein)

As soon as they arrived in Jerusalem, they found the disciples and they told them, “The Lord is risen indeed.” (verse 34) They told the disciples the wonderful story of their trip to Emmaus and of the man who walked along with them, and how he had at last revealed himself to them as he blessed and broke the bread at the meal. Their sadness and discouragement had turned into joy. What was the message they had for the disciples? (Let the children respond.) Yes, they told the disciples, “The Lord is risen indeed.”

Luke 24:13-49 Because God Said So (Wuori)

God has a plan for you too - and so Jesus teaches us all an important lesson today. Sometimes things happen in our lives that are hard to understand. They can make us feel confused, or sad, or even angry. But when things like that happen, we have to understand that they are a part of God's plan. They happen in our lives "because God said so" - just like they did in Jesus' life - but the good news is that God knows we are strong and never gives us more than we can handle.

Luke 24:13-35 Getting to Know You (Edstrom)

When you are introduced to someone, how do you decide if this is a person you would like to know better? You listen to what the new acquaintance tells you about herself or himself. You can also learn a lot about someone by noticing what they do - how they treat other people and what they choose to do with their time. Actions give us good information about the character of a person.

Luke 24:1-12 Perplexed (Klein)

What if you and a friend were at the mall, and your friend said, “Go right up to that ice cream shop on the corner. They are giving away your favorite ice cream,” and you ran all the way to that place, and when you got there, you found out everyone had to pay for ice cream? If that happened, you would wonder if you had gone to the wrong place. Or, you would wonder if your friend was playing a joke on you. You would be perplexed.

1 Corinthians 1:18-31 Making Wise Choices (Edstrom)

The Bible teaches us that Christ is "the power (and wisdom) of God" (1:18). Accepting God's love gives us the power and wisdom to make good choices. We learn how to understand what others may be feeling, how to treat others with love and respect, how to forgive, how to be happy and content with ourselves, how to worship God. This is wisdom that comes from God. Study hard, learn all you can. Be smart, but also be wise. Decide what is right and true. Decide to do the right thing.
