I have fought the good fight. I have finished the course. I have kept the faith. There is stored up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on that day; and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved his appearing.
Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that the person of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
If we died with Christ, we will also live with him. If we endure, we will also reign with him. If we deny him, he also will deny us. If we are faithless, he remains faithful.
Stir up the gift of God given you through the laying on of my hands. God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. Endure hardship for the Good News according to the power of God, who saved us and called us with a holy calling.
Paul commends contentment with what we have. "Those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction."
Paul encourages prayers for all men: Kings and others in high places, "that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence."
Paul thanks God for his mercy in counting Paul as faithful in spite of his previous role as blasphemer and persecutor of the church.
"Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother who walks in rebellion, and not after the tradition which they received from us.
Paul encourages the Thessalonian Christians not to be discouraged concerning Christ's coming again. He says, "Stand firm, and hold the traditions which you were taught by us."
Paul gives thanks for the faith and love of the Thessalonian Christians. He prays that they might continue to be faithful so that Jesus may be glorified in them.
