Colossians 1:15-28

Grounded and Steadfast

By Lois Parker Edstrom

Today let’s talk about a part of your body that allows you to stand, walk, run, and jump. Yes, let’s talk about your feet.

You take about 10,000 steps each day so you can see how important your feet are. In your lifetime that would be like walking three to four times around the earth.

Have you noticed that the bottoms of your feet are a bit ticklish? That’s because you have many nerve endings there. The bottoms of your feet also have extra thick skin to protect and cushion your foot when you walk.

Your remarkable feet give you balance and help you stand straight and tall. Your feet provide good support and keep you in contact with the ground.

We can think about our faith in God in a similar way. Your faith (belief in God) gives you support for the good things you want to do with your life. Think of your belief in God’s love as something that gives you balance. It helps you know what is important. It keeps you on the right track and prevents you from falling into bad decisions.

Listen to this Bible verse: “…continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the Good News…” (1:23).

The Bible teaches us to be grounded in God’s love. Have good balance and be steady in your beliefs. Do not be moved away from the hope of God’s love.
