Don’t we all love stories about babies!! (Show pictures of babies.) They are so cute and cuddly. If you have had an opportunity to hold a baby you know how helpless they are. They make us feel as if we want to care for them and give them everything they need.

In the Bible there is an interesting story about a baby boy whose mother wanted to take good care of him, but she was worried that he might be harmed, because at that time, the country where they lived was ruled by a bad king. This mother felt she must try to protect her baby from harm so she got a basket and covered it with pitch so it would be water-tight. She put the baby in the basket and hid him in tall grass at the edge of the river.

The baby’s older sister stayed nearby to make sure he was safe. Now the story gets even more interesting because the king’s daughter came to the river to bathe and she discovered the baby in the basket.

The baby’s sister, who saw all of this happen, asked the king’s daughter if she would like her to find someone to feed and care for the baby. The king’s daughter said, “Yes.”

Can you guess what happened next? The baby’s sister called to the baby’s mother to come over. The king’s daughter said, “Take this child away, and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages” (2:9).

So, as it turns out, the baby’s own mother raised the child and when he grew up she took him back to king’s daughter and the king’s daughter “named him Moses” (2:10).

God had a plan for this baby boy and he became the great leader who led his people out of Egypt, but that is a story for another day.

We learn, from studying the Bible, that God has a plan for every baby – for each one of us. He has a plan for you. Think about what God’s plan may be for your life. Think of all the possibilities. Wonderful things can happen when we find God’s plan and then follow it.
