Colossians 1:1-14 Good Work (Edstrom)

Any work that is done in God's Spirit of Love will help others. We may never know how our work has helped, but God's Love will make that connection. I can tell you a story about a nurse who cared for many patients who were sick and often frightened. One patient, after many years had passed, saw the nurse and remembered her. That man told the nurse how much it had meant to him that she had stayed with him and comforted him while he was in the hospital facing surgery. The nurse had not realized, at that time, how much her words and actions had meant to him and was surprised that he had remembered that incident all those years later.

Philippians 3:4b-14 A High Calling (Edstrom)

To learn something new we need to learn from our mistakes, then leave them behind, and keep trying to improve and move ahead. Whether it is learning to tie your shoes, learning to knit, learning how to spell new words, learning how to be kind, learning how to throw a ball, or learning to jump rope, be positive and keep working toward your goal. Not one of us is perfect. We are all trying to be the people God intends for us to be. The Bible reminds us that this is a "high calling" (3:14).

John 14:1-14 One and the Same (Edstrom)

In the Bible Jesus tells his disciples, "Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me…." (14:11). This is a difficult verse for many of us to understand. How can Jesus also be God, The Father? It may help to think about it in the way we see two different forms of popcorn. Both the kernels and the fluffy white popcorn we eat are both popcorn, but in two different forms.
