John 11:1-45 Reading Signs (Edstrom)

A sign is a message, illustrated with words, a picture, or a symbol, that points or directs us to something else. The hospital sign lets us know a hospital is near. When Jesus lived on earth he used signs to point us to God. He performed miracles and each one of these miracles was a sign that caused people to believe that God was near. Jesus calmed the Sea of Galilee during a storm. He walked on water. He healed the sick and caused a blind man to see. He fed five thousand people when only a small amount of food was available.

John 10:1-10 More than Enough (Edstrom)

What comes to your mind when you think about abundance? Can you give examples? How about the many different kinds of birds in the sky or all the varieties of fish in the ocean? Jesus talks about abundance. He said, "I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly" (10:10). He speaks to all of mankind; he speaks to each one of us. I believe this means that when we accept God's love we are given more than we will ever need. His love is endless and given in abundance.

John 10:1-10 Recognize the Voice (Edstrom)

Jesus tells us that he is the good shepherd. He is our caregiver. We hear the voice of Jesus through his words which are recorded in the Bible. Although we may not be able to hear the sound of his voice in our ears, as we study the Bible and become more familiar with what Jesus said, we can recognize and know the truth of his words in our hearts.

2 Timothy 3:14 Inspired by God’s Word (Edstrom)

"Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching…" (3:16). Christians believe that God breathed his Spirit into the words of the Bible. This is a way of saying that the Bible is inspired by God's Spirit. This word "inspire" is a wonderful word. When you are inspired it feels like your brain lights up with a good idea and you want to work on that idea right away. "Inspire" also means to breathe in. Be inspired by what you learn in the Bible. Breathe in God's love. Fill yourself with His love and create something wonderful with your life.

2 Corinthians 1:18-22 Amen (Edstrom)

Think about it. We see the glory of God in the beauty of our world. Beauty is all around us and the beauty of God's Spirit lives in our hearts. We experience and feel God's Spirit in the love we have for others and how that love comes back to us. We have a choice to grumble or look around and thank God through Jesus Christ for love and for life.

2 Timothy 2:8-15 Unchained (Edstrom)

When we speak about God's love, nothing can hold it back. God's love goes out into the world and changes the lives of those who hear it and accept it. God's love is a gift to each one of us. God's love has the power to teach us many things: How to honor and respect, not only God, but ourselves and others. God's love is not chained. Nothing can hold it back.
