John 14:23-29 Always with Us (Edstrom)

Before Jesus went to heaven to be with God, he spoke with his disciples to comfort them and he said, "Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you" (14:27). And, he also said, "Don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful" (14:27). Jesus said these things so that we will not worry. We may fret about needing to carry an umbrella to protect us from the weather and we may worry about a lot of other things as well, but Jesus tells us that his Spirit will always be with us to give us peace of mind. We are not to worry or be afraid. Let not your hearts be troubled.

John 14:16-18 Jesus Makes a Promise (Miller)

There once was a little girl who went to Sunday school, we can call her Jenny. She heard her teacher, Mrs. Johnson, say that God wants us to help people who are being hurt or made fun of. Now that made Jenny think about one of the kids in her regular school class. The girl had come in the middle of the year—her family had moved from far away. We can call her Abby. Abby came to school with her hair in a tangle. Sometimes she wore the same clothes three times in the same week. Her shoes were falling apart.

John 14:15-21 Warmed by God’s Spirit (Edstrom)

The father penguin cares for the egg while holding it on his feet. He tucks a loose flap of his skin over the egg to keep it warm so it will hatch. The father spends about two months sheltering the egg, making sure it does not get cold. During that time the father penguin does not eat at all! He may lose up to one-half of his body weight. By the time the chick has hatched the mother penguin is back from her journey. The baby penguin is then moved back to its mother's feet, being careful to keep it off the ice.

John 14:15-21 Showing Your Love (Wuori)

Jesus says that it's not enough to just tell God we love him. Instead, we have to show God our love by DOING the right things - just like you show your love to your pets and your parents and your friends. Quickly - make a plan in your brain for a way that you're going to show God that you love him this week! Do you have it in there? Good!

Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23 What’s Inside (Edstrom)

Honey bees are not mean and will not try to sting unless someone disturbs their hive. When that happens, the bees swarm out and try to protect their hive by stinging the person that is taking their honey. This brings us to today's lesson. We can think of a bee hive as being like our human heart. A bee hive is filled with sweet, nutritious honey. It is also filled with bees that can become angry and hurtful.

John 14:1-14 Grandpa’s Cabin (Klein)

Jesus must have rolled his eyes at that point. He had been with these disciples for three years, teaching them, helping them to understand about God, the Father. Still they didn’t understand. But once again Jesus explained his own connection to God, the Father. “Believe me,” he said, “that I am in the Father and the Father in me.” (Verse 11)
