Be careful how you live––not unwisely but wisely. Renounce foolishness. Don't get drunk, but instead fill yourself with the Spirit. Give God thanks.
Paul considers life to be Christ and death to be gain. In life, he can serve Christ. In death, he will be with the risen Christ.
Paul gives thanks for the Philippian Christians. He prays for them joyfully, and invites their prayers for himself. He prays that their love might overflow.
You were once in darkness, but now in Christ you are in the light. Renounce darkness and live in the light.
Paul establishes guidelines for Christian behavior: Speak the truth. Don't allow anger to prompt you to sin. Don't steal. Don't speak evil. Put away bitterness, wrath, and slander. Forgive. Renounce pagan ways.
In gentleness, restore fallen Christians to the faith. We will reap what we sow. If we sow corruption, we will reap corruption. If we sow to the Spirit, we will reap eternal life.
Live lives worthy of your calling, making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit.
Christ has set us free (from the Jewish law), so don't submit to slavery to that law. We are called to freedom, but not to indulgence.
